Call for Applications: French Institutes for Advanced Study (FIAS) Fellowship Programme 2024/2025

 The Fellowship Programme by the French Institutes for Advanced Study presents 10-month fellowships available at the prestigious Institutes located in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, and Nantes. It encourages applications from accomplished scholars and scientists from around the world, with a primary focus on the social sciences and humanities (SSH) disciplines.

 2nd June 2023 – 6:00 PM CET (Paris Time).

Eligible Field(s): The call welcomes applications from all disciplines within the social sciences and humanities (SSH), as well as research fields from other sciences that propose an interdisciplinary connection with SSH. Additionally, some of the Institutes for Advanced Study (IAS) have specific scientific priorities they will emphasize.

The FIAS Fellowship Programme is open to exceptional researchers at all stages of their careers, ranging from postdoctoral researchers to senior scientists. The minimum requirement is a PhD degree along with two years of research experience at the time of application. Scholars with a Master's degree and six years of full-time research experience after their degree are also eligible (PhD training will not be considered in the experience calculation).


Researchers from all countries are eligible for the FIAS Fellowship Programme; however, they should not have resided in France for more than 12 months within the three years prior to the application deadline.

Number of Awards: The FIAS Fellowship programme for the academic year 2024-2025 will provide a total of 40 fellowship positions, each lasting for a duration of 10 months. These positions will be allocated across the seven sites as follows:

Value of Award: The FIAS fellows will receive valuable support and benefit from the conducive scientific environment provided by the IAS. They will be part of an interdisciplinary community of fellows and have the opportunity to engage closely with local research resources. Fellows will have the freedom to structure their work and conduct research according to their preferences.

Conditions:
All IAS institutes adhere to a set of shared standards, which encompass a living allowance of 2,700€ per month, social security coverage, accommodation, a research and training budget, and coverage of travel expenses.
